"Cirque du Freak" by Darren Shan

It's a story about a boy who loves spiders and gets a chance to go a freak show. He sees many unique performers such as the violent wolf man. The boy becomes fascinated by a great spider named Madam Octa in the show, and he decides to steal her from Mr. Crepsley, her owner. He plays with her everyday until one day when she bites his friend. To save his friend, he must make a bargain with the great spider that changes his life forever.

This book never made me feel bored eventhough I don't like to read and don't usually like horror stories. It was not too hard to read, and it was full of excitement. Some parts were a little grotesque, but it didn’t make me feel bad. I read this book because Darren Shan's books are very famous in Japan and have received many prizes. I would recommend this book.
